Useful information for foreign tourists who are sightseeing in Sapporo:Restaurant etiquette
Making and cancelling restaurant reservations
When restaurants in Japan receive phone reservations from customers, they make careful preparations in advance to offer their best hospitality to the customer at the reserved time. When you are running late or have to cancel a reservation that you have made at a restaurant or bar, make sure to call the establishment and let them know. (Some places may charge for cancelations.)
At self-service restaurants, throw away used paper cups and other garbage into the garbage bin (after separating waste by type). Also, don’t forget to return your food tray to the return area. If you are confused about how to clean up, feel free to ask the staff for assistance.
