Nishioka Park

A water supply and forest that protects diverse fauna and flora
A perfect site for nature observation with very few artificial objects

Located about a 30minutes drive south from central Sapporo, Nishioka Park can be found in hilly area southwest of Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill. Centered around the Nishioka Suigenchi reservoir, the park comprises the Tsukisamu River, its upper river basin, and forest. The reservoir was constructed as a water supply facility for the Imperial Army during the Meiji Period by damming up the Tsukisamu River. The City of Sapporo inherited the reservoir and has maintained it as a park. The park has a minimum of facilities except around the entrance. The green and water-rich park is the home to a diverse range of animals and plants. It is perfect for bird watching and nature observation.
