A museum operated by an uncommon collector, where visitors can learn about Hokkaido history through crystals, fossils, and currency

Junichi Watanabe is a Hokkaido native and Naoki Prize-winning author of numerous bestsellers including Shitsurakuen [A Lost Paradise]. The museum introduces visitors to the literary works and creative activities of the author. The permanent exhibition room on the second floor of the museum showcases private items from his childhood, handwritten manuscripts, and personal photographs. The special exhibition room on the same floor presents items organized by theme to explore Watanabe’s literary works in depth. His works range in theme from his early works set in the medical world to romantic novels, biographical works, and essays. The paid audio guide, in which the author reveals how he debuted as an author, is not to be missed. There is also a library and café on the first floor.
