WILD MUSTANG’S

Horse riding among the orchards at the foothill of Mount Hakkenzan near Jozankei

A 45 minute drive headed for Jozankei in the summer from downtown Sapporo brings you to the horse riding facility “WILD MUSTANG’S” at the foothill of Mount Hakkenzan, where visitors may experience Western style horse riding among the wild fields. The facility is not only ideal for intermediate and advanced riders, but also offers programs for beginners. After you get some practice on the track tailored to your level, you may head out directly for the fields outside. Rocking on the horseback and strolling along the orchards and corn fields, you can immerse yourself in the wild nature around the Jozankei area surrounded by mountains while enjoying the horse riding, forgetting that you are still in Sapporo. From the dazzling, sprouting leaves in the spring to the mountains covered in deep foliage in the summer, from the yellow and green leaves in the autumn to the silent, snow-clad view in the winter, a variety of experiences are available throughout the season.

We recommend the ¥10,000 program (around one hour) where even beginners may wander out to the fields as they please after the basic lessons. Other options include experience for children with staff pulling the horse or the “Wild Ride” program where visitors venture beyond Jozankei to ride along the coast or on forest paths.
