The Ishikari Asobeach (Ishikari Bay Beach Swimming Destination) is a beach swimming destination popular with Sapporo locals, located just 40 minutes by car from central Sapporo in Ishikari City. In addition to vendors selling shaved ice and skewer grilled chicken, Asobeach offers barbecue sets that include everything from the equipment to the ingredients (reservation required). You can also rent swimming tubes and beach umbrellas, so showing up empty-handed is not a problem. The beach is also completely barrier-free, and can provide visitor with outdoor wheelchairs or other equipment. After beach swimming, take a break in the adjacent hot spring.
