“North Island Beer” is a craft beer brand brewed by SOC Brewing at its factory in the suburbs of Sapporo. It is a popular new up-and-comer at beer bars in Sapporo city. Two beer-loving college friends who trained in Canada to become meisters went on to begin brewing beer in Sapporo’s Higashi-ku in 2003, aiming to create a Hokkaido craft beer. The factory was later relocated to Ebetsu city, where the beer is brewed in 1,000ℓ vats. At the directly-operated store “Beer Bar NORTH ISLAND” located in Sapporo, you can taste a total of eight craft beers fresh from the barrel, including six classic beers as well as limited-edition and special “guest” beers. It is an essential shop for getting to know the beers of Hokkaido.
