Mikaho Park

There is a history behind the name “Mikaho”. A park for the common people with extensive exercise facilities, where you can experience Sapporo’s four seasons and also ice skating.

Mikaho Park is located at the corner of a quiet residential area. The park’s name, “Mikaho” is derived from the initials of the three persons who donated the land for the park. The plot of approximately 80,000 square meters comprises extensive exercise facilities, including a baseball field, tennis courts, a gymnasium (in summer), a skating rink (in winter; can also be used for curling). From June to October, a mini zoo makes its appearance, and you have the opportunity to interact with chipmunks and goats. In autumn, the ginkgo trees change color, and it becomes a spot for enjoying the autumn leaves; in winter, you can enjoy playing in the snow on the ski mountain.
Mikaho Gymnasium located inside the park is also used as an official venue for winter sports tournaments, including the 1972 Sapporo Olympics. Mikaho Park, where you can relax while experiencing the lifestyles of the local people through the four seasons, might be a good place to take a break during your sightseeing in Sapporo.
