Sapporo Fureai-no-Mori

Sapporo Fureai-no-Mori is a nature-rich forest at the foot of Mount Shirahata that offers four different programs for learning about the forest and walking in the woods.

The expansive Shirahatayama Urban Forest is located 321.5meters above sea level at the foot of Mount Shirahata. 120ha of the forest has been named “Sapporo Hureainomori” and designated a place for citizens to relax. Walking on the paths that run through the forest of Mongolian oak and white birch, visitors can observe different environments, such as streams and marshes, and various vegetations. Mount Shirahata is known as a treasure box of vegetation and some of the flowers that can be found there include Trillium, Himalayan Lily, wheel lily, Climbing hydrangea. There are four different paths that visitors can take. One of them involves answering quizzes as you go along. There are also facilities for barbecuing and craft making. It’s a great place to experience nature.
