In Sapporo, one of my favorite restaurants is the Akadaya 380 yen Dining Izakaya.  As you may have gleaned from its name, almost everything in the restaurant is priced at 380 ¥. I first heard about the restaurant about a year ago, however, I didn’t get a chance to go until a few months ago.

I wasn’t expecting much with the 380 ¥ price tag, but there was a large variety of food on the menu.  They not only had a large selection of Japanese foods, but they also had foods from other countries.  I don’t think I have ever even imagined eating ramen salad with French fries, followed with fried squid and yakisoba. They even had pizza, bibimbap, and much more.  As for drinks, there is a very reasonably priced 780 ¥ all-you-can-drink with cocktails, softdrinks, wine, and etc.

I have been to some restaurants where they have very cheap items, but the good comes out either with a less-than-satisfying taste or in tiny proportions.  So, I was pleasantly surprised when the food came.  The food came out quick, in large portions, and tasted fantastic.  The ramen salad alone had sizable portions for four people.  I thought we would spend time ordering more food just to get full; instead, we ended up looking through the menu to plan for future visits.

The service there was impeccable.  Drinks and food were brought to the table quickly, the staff was extremely friendly, and the manager even waited with a hot wet towel for us each time we went to the bathroom.  Along with its relaxing atmosphere, not to mention its awesome Coca-Cola sign, I felt at home in Akadaya.

Since first going to Akadaya a few months ago, I have been there about four more times.  Akadaya is located about a 15-minute-train-ride and a 7-minute-walk from the center of the city, but it is well worth the trip.  For a inexpensive and unique dining experience, I highly recommend checking out Akadaya.
